When to use wedding ‘Welcome’ baskets?

My fiance and I are having are wedding semi close to home but it’ll be on the beach and we’re hoping some guests make a mini vacation out of there stay. We are giving out information on the hotel where we are getting married but arent paying for rooms. I’d like to make ‘WELCOME’ baskets for our guests but im not sure when and who to give them too exactly. Should we only give them to people staying at the INN? or should we give them to all the guests? If so when is the right time if we dont see them until the ceremony?

The best welcome baskets I’ve been given were presented to me by the hotel staff at check-in (the bride arranged this beforehand). They included water bottles, a gift certificate to a restaurant within walking distance, some healthy snacks (I’m diabetic and my husband has an allergy to gluten) and a hand written note from the bride and groom.

The worst welcome baskets I’ve been given included cheap plastic flip-flops, flower leis and a bunch of other stuff I was going to have to find room in my luggage for. The basket I’m thinking of included 20 pounds worth of stuff I didn’t need, put my bag over weight and I ended up paying an extra $50 for my luggage at the airport.

Keep it personal. Keep it simple. Keep it light!
