Can I wear a blusher veil if I’m not being given away?
My father and I have never been close, and I’ve been living on my own for several years (not to mention I’ll have been living with my fiance for almost 2 years before the wedding). I don’t feel a need to be given away anyway, but I do like the idea of having my fiance lift my veil when we’re pronounced husband & wife.
Would this be ok?
(My consultant at David’s Bridal gave me a funny look when I told her I want a blusher but I’m not being given away, which is part of the reason I’m asking).
And can I still wear one if I’m not a virgin?
I’ve never been married before, btw.
Yes, of course you can. I have actually never seen a ceremony where the blusher is lifted by the person giving away the bride. I have always seen it lifted by the groom, right before he kisses the bride.

Blushers have nothing to do with virginity. Nor does a white gown. The superstition behind the veil (and having a blusher over the face) is to protect a bride from evil spirits. Many old wedding traditions have to do with protecting the bride from evil spirits, actually. Bridesmaids originally stood beside the bride in an effort to confuse any evil spirits after the bride, and the veil was there to disguise her. The myth that it stood for Chastity (like the white dress) came much later
