Our diamond ring was seized down but came back with a chip on the side of the centre stone?
we bought this ring and it was perfect, the centre stone was totally clean. they sent it off to be seized down but with no instructions… so it came back to the shop, so then the shop sent it back to be siezed down again but this time with instruction and an URGENT note attatched.
it was done within 24 hours.
when we picked it up the diamond centre stone (looking at it side on) looked like it had a line going straight through the middle. we brushed a folded piece of paper over the part where we believed there was a chip and sure enough, the paper got stuck!
the manager of this shop (ernest jones) tried to tell us it was a natural inclusion thats been there for millions of years, followed by giving us the offer of a full refund?!
My question is, if you heat up a ring to seize it down WITHOUT removing the diamonds. can this heat cause the diomond to crack?
no chance. Diamond is very strong and resilient. It will take a lot to get a chip in it.
