How The Royal Wedding Dress Will Inspire Bridal Trend
The upcoming royal wedding makes sure to be one of a big event in 2011. On April 29th, U.K. will attract eyes from all over the world. Nothing is to be special more than Prince William and Kate Middleton getting married. It will mark the beginning of many bridal trends.
Brian Worley, the wedding and event planner gave his point of view. When I produce and design a wedding, I always try to impress upon my clients that their wedding is “their” wedding, not their mom’s or their grandmother’s. But as royalty, Prince William and Kate have a much harder time making it their own. Their wedding will bring a return to more traditional elements — things that have become less important over the years, like classic attire and engraved invitations.
Without a doubt, the wedding dress will set the bar for the rest of the year, and will become the defining look for 2011. Princess Diana’s dress for the royal wedding of Windsor was, and still is, a topic of conversation 30 years later. Her iconic gown was very much the style of the 80′s. Wedding, prom and bridesmaid dresses of that time were all influenced by the design. It ushered in a decade of taffeta, puffed sleeves and layers of crinoline tulle under a full skirt, and helped make Diana one of the leading fashion icons of her day.
Kate Middleton will do the exact same thing. Her wedding dresses will definitely be replicated, much like celebrities’ Oscar dresses, allowing any bride to feel like a real princess on her wedding day. How much will Kate Middleton’s wedding dress rock the bridal world? Experts are predicting she’ll go train-free on April 29, a bold move that would shatter the existing royal-dress formula. Like Diana Spencer, Middleton’s choices could change the course of bridal wear for the next decade. She’ll have a bevy of attendants to take care of the train that we predict she will, in fact, have (it’s a looong walk down that Westminster Abbey aisle; a train adds gravitas and looks good for the overhead cameras. Plus, a royal bride has to satisfy the visual hunger of millions, so the more there is to look at, the better). It might not be Diana’s 25-footer, but there’ll be some fabric trailing behind her.
It was said that Diana’s dress was copied and available at the market only hours after the royal wedding took place. Therefore, the wedding dress designer was kept as a secret strictly until the wedding day. Kate’s dress will have the same effect.
If you are going to be a bride this year, will you wish to own a same wedding gown like Kate’s? I think majority answers will be yes. And I am sure that online shops will be the first time than bouquets to release the princess wedding dress. On April 29th, you may find ShopSimple or eBay with many similar dresses. Just be patient, let us wait and expect this grand bridal occasion.
