Black Berries Are One Of The Cheapest Kinds Of Berries You Can Find

Black berries grow in locations throughout the United States and can easily be picked in either June or July. They also grow very well in areas of British Columbia and Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. More than 100 varieties of black berries have been identified. They have to be ripe before you pick them as they will not ripen off the vine. Tons of black berries in Brazil are wasted each year as their culture believes that if you don’t pick them by the middle of September then they belong to the devil.

Black berries are delicious and they only have 62 calories in a cup. They make a perfect afternoon snack. While there is still plenty of research to be conducted in regards to the health benefits black berries, it is believed to help prevent cancer of the throat and to cure goute.

There has been significant research done that shows black berries are full of antioxidants and therefore they can remove impurities from the body. This allows the body to be able to fight off cancer cells.

You can pick your own black berries and wash them before you enjoy eating them. Many black berry farms allow you to come on specific days and times to pick your own, and then you pay for them by weight. Black berries grow on both thorn and thornless vines. Getting to those without thorns is easier but those that come from the thorn vines are much sweeter.

You can also purchase them at the grocery store or farm markets. Black berries don’t stay fresh for long though so you have to eat them within a few days of making your purchase. They tend to grow mold on them if you leave them at room temperature so store them in a refrigerator when you can. Many people buy large amounts of black berries and then freeze them so that they can enjoy fresh black berries all year long.

Black berries are one of the cheapest kinds of berries you can find because they grow in a variety of locations so you aren’t paying the expense of shipping them a long distance. The verdict is still out in regards to the flavor of black berries though and it appears that either you like them or you don’t.
