Can you put a marquise stone in a 4 prong setting?

The answer is “Yes” but with provisions.
1) You need a “V” prong on each end to protect the points of the stone
2) You need a prong on each side to protect the girdle on the long sides (2 on each side would be better)
3) If this is a solitaire, you will need an undergallery to support the stone from below and to tie the prongs into because this particular cut is sensitive to blows or pressure from above as it is long as opposed to round.

Marquise cut stones can sometimes shear across the middle, depending on their proportions.
